TAFION MARITIME COMPANY is a multi-shareholder company owned by the people of Meganisi while the main shareholder remains the Municipality of Meganisi.
The company’s objective was the direct sea connection between Meganisi and the town of Lefkada. For this reason the newly built ferry boat, ANCHIALOS was deployed to service this new MEGANISI –LEFKADA (town) route.
This route opens a new gateway for Meganisi responding at the same time to the social and development issues of Meganisi.
If there were many reasons why one should visit Meganisi, today there is one more.

HISTORY
TAFIOS: Tafios the great was the son of Poseidon and king of the Tafions, the inhabitants of the central Ionian islands (and Meganisi) and the coast of Mainland Greece. Today, it is still known under the name “Sea of the Tafions”.
ANCHIALOS: A Homeric name that means the one who lives by the sea. Anchialos was a descendant of Tafios king and father of Mentes as whom Athena disguised herself and presented to Telemachus.
